Ordering Your Life

What is important in your life?
Kids, marriage, God, work, friends, yourself, family...

How important are each of these to you?

Stop. Take a minute to get out a piece of paper, and write them in your order of priority.

When you take time to intentionally rank these aspects of your life, you then have a guideline for making decisions. If it comes down to spending time with your spouse or working longer on that work project, it will now be easier to make the decision based on your list.

To get a clear and bold picture of how you *really* order these aspects of your life, email ten of your closest friends and family members, and ask them for their candid feedback on how THEY think you’d order them.

Sample email:

Hi, friends and family -

I am trying to grow in my personal awareness and improve my sense of priority. Would you please take a minute to help me?

I know how I think I order these different aspects of my life. What I would like to know is how YOU think I do: Friends, Marriage, Kids, Work, God, Myself, and Family. Please feel free to include any feedback about why you ranked them in the order that you did.

Your feedback will help me identify my blind spots and continue to grow intentionally.

Thanks,

Ed
